Educational migration in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has some of the highest proportion of undergraduate student migration in the United Kingdom. Once a young person leaves for education purposes, they may be unlikely to return to Northern Ireland. High levels of migration may contribute to skills deficits and poor economic development in Northern Ireland.

This project aims to understand the underlying motivations for these behaviours to develop evidence–based policies that reduce educational migration and enhance long–term economic development in Northern Ireland.

Our research wishes to speak with key people involved in this issue.  This includes students, university admission staff and graduate employers.

Further details about this project will be released in upcoming weeks.  The participant information sheet may be downloaded here.
